More Reviews, More Business!
If you’re running a junk removal business and not consistently collecting reviews, you’re leaving opportunities—and money—on the table. Reviews are one of the most powerful tools you have to grow your business, and here’s why.
I talk to a lot of junk removal business owners, and one of the first things I look at when assessing their business is their website and their Google My Business reviews. Why? These two factors often give a clear picture of where a business stands.
Here’s what I’ve noticed: businesses with 50, 75, or 100+ reviews tend to be thriving. They’re generating consistent work and building a solid reputation. On the other hand, businesses with fewer than 20 reviews—especially those with only 1–10—often struggle. Usually, this isn’t because the service is bad; it’s because they’re not generating enough organic visibility online.
Why Reviews Matter
Google wants to deliver the best results for every search. When someone searches for “junk removal near me,” Google evaluates several factors, but two of the biggest are:
- Proximity – How close are you to the person searching?
- Social proof – How many happy customers have reviewed your business?
If you don’t have enough reviews, Google is hesitant to show your business. And even if you do appear in the search results, potential customers may skip over your business because there’s not enough evidence that you provide a professional and reliable service.
Think of it this way: most people don’t choose a service-based business blindly. They look at reviews first. Positive reviews tell them:
- This company is trustworthy.
- Their service is professional.
- Other people have had good experiences.
By consistently gathering reviews, you’re doing two things at once:
- Helping Google rank your business higher.
- Building trust with your potential customers.
Stand Out From the Competition
Imagine there are 10 junk removal companies in your area. Nine of them have 15 or fewer reviews. You, however, have 100+ reviews. Who do you think is going to get more business?
Reviews separate you from your competition. They make your business the obvious choice, especially for new customers who have never worked with you before.
How to Get More Reviews
The process doesn’t have to be overwhelming. If you implement a simple system, reaching 100 reviews in your first year is very achievable. Here’s the math:
- If you serve one customer per day, and
- You can get a review from 1 out of every 3 customers,
…you’re already on track to hit around 100 reviews in a year. Most junk removal businesses serve more than one customer per day, so the potential is even higher.
If you’ve been in business for six months or a year and only have 10–30 reviews, it’s not because you can’t do it—you just haven’t built the system yet. Set a goal, be consistent, and make collecting reviews part of your process.
Set Goals and Take Action
Make review collection a priority. Set a monthly goal—maybe 10–15 new reviews—and do everything you can to reach it. The payoff is huge: more reviews mean higher visibility, more trust, and ultimately more business.
Google is where your customers are searching, and reviews are how you show them that you’re the best choice in your area. Don’t overlook this simple, yet extremely powerful, tool.

Final Thoughts
Reviews are one of the simplest and most powerful ways to grow a junk removal business. They boost your visibility on Google, build instant trust with potential customers, and help you stand out in a crowded market.
Consistently asking for reviews isn’t complicated—it just requires a system and commitment. When you make review collection part of your everyday process, the results compound over time. More reviews lead to more visibility, more calls, and more booked jobs. If you want steady growth, make reviews a non-negotiable priority.
